The island of Fuerteventura, which has 1,658 km2 in size, is the flatter of the Canary archipelago. It is part of an alignment of more than 200 km. Beginning at the islet Alegranza, north of Lanzarote, and that continued until about 20 Km. The southern tip of Jandía, thus constituting the continental shelf largest of the Canary Islands.
Fuerteventura is an island with extensive plains, virtually unique in the Canary Islands, and its centrepiece a plain long, the reverse of what happens in the rest of the Canary Islands, where the higher elevations are frequently found in the shaft. The highlight of the island of Fuerteventura corresponds to an advanced stage of maturity and although had suffered numerous eruptions along its geological history, these have not been sufficient to offset the erosive process and rejuvenate the field considerably.
